  "text": "(1) Any reference in these Regulations to a period mentioned in paragraph (2) does not include any time when the officer concerned is taking a career break determined under regulation 33(12) of the Police Regulations 2003 (leave).\n(2) A period is—\n(a) a period specified in accordance with regulation 17(6A);\n(b) the validity period of a written improvement notice specified in regulation 18(4) or 46(7)(d);\n(c) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\n(d) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\n(e) a period specified in accordance with regulation 46(7A) or (8)(a)(i);\n(f) the validity period of a written improvement notice extended under regulation 46(8)(c).",
