# The Police (Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations 2013, Introduction: Introductory text

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 50(1), (2)(b) and (7) of the Police Act 1996.
In accordance with section 63(3) of the Police Act 1996, the Secretary of State supplied a draft of the Regulations to the Police Advisory Board for England and Wales and took into consideration the representations made by the Board.
