# The Police (Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations 2014, Regulation 5: Amendments to the Police (Promotion) Regulations 1996


In paragraph 5 of Schedule 1—
(a) in sub-paragraph (1), for “(1B),” substitute “(1B), (1C),”;
(b) in sub-paragraph (1A), for “(1B),” substitute “(1B), (1C),”;
(c) after sub-paragraph (1B), insert—
“(1C) A constable participating in the FT Programme is eligible to take Part I of the qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of sergeant.”;
(d) after sub-paragraph (2), insert—
“(2A) A constable participating in the FT Programme is eligible to take Part I of the qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of inspector.”;
(e) in sub-paragraph (3A), for “(3B),” substitute “(3B), (3C),”;
(f) after sub-paragraph (3B), insert—
“(3C) A sergeant participating in the FT Programme is eligible to take Part I of the qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of inspector.”;
(g) in sub-paragraph (5), for “A person” substitute “A person, other than a person participating in the FT Programme,”;
(h) after sub-paragraph (6), insert—
“(7) Part IIB of the qualifying assessment may be taken by a constable participating in the FT Programme only if a pass has been obtained in Part I.”.
