# The Police (Promotion) Regulations 1996, Paragraph 2

In the second column of the Table —
Q(1) is the qualifying assessment for promotion in the body in question to the rank of sergeant or inspector;
Q(2) is a qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of sergeant or inspector prescribed by Scottish promotion regulations;
Q(3) is an examination which at the time it was taken also constituted, under regulations made under section 50 of the Police Act 1996 ..., the qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of sergeant or inspector in a police force.
