# The Police Regulations 1987, Paragraph 5


If in any particular case or class of cases the period of retention or engagement on duty exceeds a week and the chief officer of police is satisfied that the amount of the allowances calculated in accordance with paragraph 1 would be excessive, he may direct that there shall be granted in lieu thereof of a weekly allowance at such lower rate as may be necessary to cover the reasonable expenses of the member concerned.
