In regulation 14 (probationary service in the rank of constable)—

(a)

in paragraph (1) omit the words after “constable”;

(b)

in paragraph (2) for the words after “this regulation applies”substitute “may be required to serve on probation for such period, not exceeding 2 years and 6 months, as the chief officer of police, with the approval of the Secretary of State, determines in the circumstances of a particular case.”; and

(c)

omit paragraph (3) and paragraph (4)(c) and (d).
