  "text": "These Regulations provide that a member of a police force transferred thereto under the Policing of Airports Act 1974 shall, if the Secretary of State so directs, be entitled to elect to receive an ad hoc allowance at a rate determined by the Secretary of State instead of a rent allowance under the Police Regulations 1971.\nThe Regulations have effect as from 1st November 1974 (the date on which the Policing of Airports (Heathrow) (First Supplementary) Order 1974 (S.I. 1974/1672) came into operation). Retrospection is authorised by section 33(4) of the Police Act 1964.",
