# Poll Tax Act 1688, Section X: Alien Merchants and Jews, £10. Proviso for French Protestants having received Charity.


And bee it further Enacted and Ordained by the Authoritie aforesaid That every Merchant Stranger and Jew resideing within this Kingdome shall pay the Summe of Ten pounds Provided that none of the French Protestants that hath received any Share of the Publicke Charity collected by vertue of Letters Patents for their Reliefe shall be charged with the said Summe of Ten pounds.
