Explanatory note

These Regulations makes amendments and further transitional and consequential provision relating to the new arrangements from 1st August 2008 for the provision of general ophthalmic services under section 115 of the National Health Service Act 2006 in respect of general ophthalmic services contracts entered into under section 117 of that Act.

Part 2 of the Regulations makes transitional provision in respect of general ophthalmic services provided before 1st August 2008. Regulations 4 and 5 make provision in respect of complaints pending on or made after 1st August 2008. Regulations 6 and 7 make provision in respect of payments and recovery of payments relating to periods before 1st August 2008.

Part 3 makes transitional arrangements in relation to the National Health Service (Service Committees and Tribunals) Regulations 1992, which are also amended in Schedule 1.

Part 4 and the Schedules make minor and consequential amendments and revocations.

An Impact Assessment has not been produced for this Instrument as it has no impact on the cost of business, charities or voluntary bodies.
