Paragraph 10

For rule 53 (Particular punishments) there shall be substituted the following rule—

“Cellular confinement

When it is proposed to impose a punishment of cellular confinement, the medical officer, or a medical practitioner such as is mentioned in rule 17(3), shall inform the governor whether there are any medical reasons why the prisoner should not be so dealt with. The governor shall give effect to any recommendation which may be made under this rule.”.
