# The Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Amendment Rules 1998, Article 8: Amendment of rule 17 of the principal Rules


(1) Rule 17 of the principal Rules (provision of bedding) is amended in accordance with paragraph (2) of this rule.
(2) After paragraph (1), there is inserted the following paragraph:–
“(1A) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), the Governor may, at the request of a prisoner, provide him with a mattress only instead of a bed.”.
