# The Prisons (Property) Act 2013 (Commencement) Order 2015, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings section 1 of the Prisons (Property) Act 2013 (c. 11) (“the Act”) into force on 26th March 2015. Section 1 of the Act inserts into the Prison Act 1952 (c. 52) a new section 42A which introduces a power for prison governors and directors to destroy or otherwise dispose of unauthorised property confiscated or found in specific circumstances.
