Article 4 Franchise exemption

Exemption from designation under section 23(1) of the 1993 Act (designation of passenger services as eligible for franchising) is granted to any person who provides a railway passenger service on any railway line comprised in an exempt network, in respect of that service.

The exemption granted in paragraph (1) above shall continue in force until the end of a period of thirty years beginning with the relevant day.
