  "long_title": "These Rules revoke and replace with modifications the Register of Patent Agents Rules 1978 as amended. They regulate the registration of persons who act as agents for others for the purpose of applying for or obtaining patents in the United Kingdom or elsewhere. Those on the register kept under the Register of Patent Agents Rules 1978 (the register to be kept under these Rules) on the coming into force of these Rules are treated as registered patent agents for the purposes of these Rules and section 276 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (persons entitled to describe themselves as patent agents).",
