# The Registered Designs (Fees) Rules 2016, Introduction: Introductory text

The Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 36 and 40 of the Registered Designs Act 1949 and of the power conferred by the Department of Trade and Industry (Fees) Order 1988 .
