# The Registration of Title Order 1988

S.I. 1988/596 · made 23 March 1988

This Order extends the system of compulsory registration of title on sale of land to the districts mentioned in article 2(1)(a) with effect from 1st December 1988 and, on the same date, to the administrative area of the Isles of Scilly as stated in article 2(1)(b).

LAND REGISTRATION, ENGLAND AND WALES
Made 23rd March 1988
Coming into force 1st December 1988
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 23rd day of March 1988
Present,
The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 120(1) and (6) of the Land Registration Act 1925 and sections 80(2) and 90 of the London Government Act 1963, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order and declare, and it is hereby ordered and declared, as follows:

## 1 

This Order may be cited as the Registration of Title Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st December 1988.

## 2 

(1) In addition to the areas mentioned in column 2 of the Schedule to the Registration of Title Order 1987 (being the areas in England and Wales in which registration of title to land is already compulsory on sale) registration of title shall be compulsory on sale on and after 1st December 1988,
(a) in the districts of Aberconwy, Arfon, Carmarthen, Carrick, Ceredigion, Dinefwr, Dwyfor, East Cambridgeshire, East Staffordshire, Fenland, Hambleton, Kerrier, Meirionnydd, North Cornwall, Penwith, Preseli, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough, South Pembrokeshire, South Staffordshire, Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands, Torridge, and West Devon, and
(b) in the administrative area of the Isles of Scilly.
(2) Accordingly, on and after 1st December 1988, registration of title to land shall be compulsory on sale in the areas mentioned in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order.

## 3 

As from 1st December 1988 the Registration of Title Order 1987 shall cease to have effect.
