Regulation 1 Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation

These Regulations may be cited as the Retained Organs Commission Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st April 2001.

These Regulations extend to England only.

In these Regulations—

• “the Act” means the National Health Service Act 1977;

• “the Commission” means the Retained Organs Commission established by the Order;

• “the chairman” means the chairman of the Commission;

• “health service body” shall be construed in accordance with section 4 of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990^f1;

• “member” means a member of the Commission other than the chairman;

• “non-officer member” means a member who is not an officer of the Commission;

• “the Order” means the Retained Organs Commission (Establishment and Constitution) Order 2001^f2.

In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, any reference to a numbered regulation is a reference to the regulation bearing that number in these Regulations, and any reference in a regulation to a numbered paragraph is a reference to the paragraph bearing that number in that regulation.
