  "heading": "Weight not to be exceeded in any circumstances",
  "text": "(1) Subject to paragraph 2, the maximum authorised weight for a vehicle of a description specified in column (2) of an item in Table 1 below and having the number of axles specified in column (3) shall be the weight specified in column (4) of the item.\nTABLE 1\n(1)\n(2)\n(3)\n(4)\nItem\nDescription of vehicle\nNumber of axles\nMaximum authorised weight (kg)\n1.\nRigid motor vehicle\n2\n18000\n2.\nTractor unit\n2\n18000\n3.\nTrailer which is not a semi-trailer or a centre-axle trailer\n2\n18000\n4.\nTrailer which is not a semi-trailer or centre-axle trailer\n3 or more\n24000\n5.\nRigid motor vehicle which satisfies at least one of the conditions specified in sub-paragraph (2)\n3\n26000\n6.\nRigid motor vehicle not falling within item 5\n3\n25000\n7.\nTractor unit which satisfies at least one of the conditions specified in sub-paragraph (2)\n3 or more\n26000\n8.\nTractor unit not falling within item 7\n3 or more\n25000\n9.\nArticulated bus\nAny number\n28000\n10.\nRigid motor vehicle which satisfies at least one of the conditions specified in sub-paragraph (2)\n4 or more\n32000\n11.\nRigid motor vehicle not falling within item 10\n4 or more\n30000\n(2) The conditions referred to in items 5, 7 and 10 of Table 1 are that–\n(a) the driving axle if it is not a steering axle is fitted with twin tyres and road friendly suspension; or\n(b) each driving axle is fitted with twin tyres and the maximum weight for each axle does not exceed 9500 kg.",
