# The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2001, Regulation 3: Interpretation


(1) Regulation 3 shall be amended as follows.
(2) The following items shall be added in the appropriate alphabetical order to the Table following regulation 3(2)—

anti-lock braking system (“ABS”)
a part of a service braking system which automatically controls the degree of slip, in the direction of rotation of the wheel or wheels, on one or more wheels of the vehicle during braking.
ISO
International Organisation for Standardisation.
ISO 7638 connector
an electrical connector that complies with standard ISO 7638: 1997–1 or ISO 7638: 1997–2 and is used to provide a dedicated power supply and a communication link between the tow vehicle and trailer.
”
(3) The definition of “Framework Directive” in the Table following regulation 3(2), for the words “and Commission Directive 93/81” substitute “, Commission Directive 93/81/EEC and Commission Directive 98/14/EC”.
