# Roads (Speed Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

This Order:increases from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour the speed limit on the restricted roads specified in Schedule 1 (Article 2);reduces from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour the speed limit on the restricted road specified in Article 3; andrevokes the provisions described in Schedule 2, which are spent (Article 4).

Made 10th February 1997
To be laid before Parliament under paragraph 3(3) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974
Coming into operation 24th March 1997
The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 50(4)(a) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

## 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Roads (Speed Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 24th March 1997.
(2) In this Order “the 1981 Order” means the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981.

## 2 Increase of speed limit

The rate of speed fixed by Article 50(1) of the 1981 Order shall be increased from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour in relation to the restricted roads specified in Schedule 1.

## 3 Reduction of speed limit

The rate of speed fixed by Article 50(1) of the 1981 Order shall be reduced from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour in relation to the following restricted road, namely Newry Road, Route A25, Camlough, from a point approximately 273 metres east of its junction with Keggall Road, to a point approximately 381 metres east of that junction.

## 4 Revocations

The provisions described in Schedule 2 are hereby revoked.

Comber Road, Route A21, Ballygowan, from a point approximately 43 metres north of its junction with Magherascouse Road, to a point approximately 444 metres north of that junction.
