# The School Teachers' Remuneration Order 2002, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Order)
Under the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Act 1991 (the Act), the Secretary of State is authorised to make pay and conditions orders containing provisions about the statutory conditions of employment of school teachers, including their remuneration.
This Order provides that for the purposes of the Act personal bonus payments to school teachers in taking part in the Excellence Fellowships scheme with a higher education institution shall not be regarded as remuneration.
