# The Scottish Parliament (Elections etc.) Order 2015, Article 84: Dissolution of Parliament: minimum period

The “minimum period” for the purpose of section 2(3) of the 1998 Act (ordinary general elections) is a period of 20 days, computed in accordance with rule 2 of the Scottish Parliamentary Election Rules (computation of time).
