# The Simple Pressure Vessels (Safety) Regulations 2016, Paragraph 21

Extent: E+W+S

(1) Welds must be performed by qualified welders or operators possessing the appropriate level of competence, in accordance with approved welding processes.
(2) In sub-paragraph (1)—
(a) “qualified” means qualified by means of tests carried out by an approved body; and
(b) “approved” means approved by an approved body.
