# The Smoke Control Areas (Exempt Fireplaces) (Scotland) Order 2005, Article 2: Exempted classes of fireplace


The classes of fireplace described in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order which comply with the conditions specified in relation to each of them in column 2 of that Schedule are exempt from the provisions of section 20 (prohibition on emission of smoke in smoke control area) of the Clean Air Act 1993.
