# The Social Science Research Council Order 1965, Introduction: Introductory text

Laid before Parliament in draft
Made 29th November 1965
Coming into Operation 1st December 1965
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 29th day of November 1965
Present,
The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Whereas the Social Science Research Council is established by Royal Charter for purposes connected with scientific research and consists of persons appointed by a Minister of the Crown:
And whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in pursuance of section 1(4) of the Science and Technology Act 1965 and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now therefore Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1(1) of the said Act is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to declare, and it is hereby declared, as follows:—
