# The Social Security Act 1973 (Commencement) Order 1973 S.I. 1973/1249 · made 19 July 1973 This Order brings into force on 6th April 1975 the provisions of the Social Security Act 1973 relating to basic scheme contributions, the crediting of contributions, the contribution conditions for basic scheme benefit, reserve scheme contributions and premiums, married women and widows, and the review of provision for the chronically sick and disabled. It also brings into operation immediately provisions relating to the making of regulations and orders, the Parliamentary control of them, reference of them to the National Insurance Advisory Committee, and the interpretation, citation and commencement of the Act and the application of Parts II and III of the Act to Northern Ireland.
