Regulation 1 provides for the citation and commencement of these Regulations.
Regulation 2 amends regulation 49. These provisions respectively substituted a new section 36 and inserted sections 39A to 39C of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 (c. 4) and the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992 (c. 7). The purpose of the amendments is to secure equal treatment between men and women in respect of benefits connected with bereavement.
