# The Social Security (Transitional Payments) Regulations 2009, Introduction: Introductory text

Laid before Parliament 16th March 2009
Coming into force 6th April 2009
The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Regulations in exercise of powers conferred by sections 5(1)(i), 189(1) and (3) to (6) and 191 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992.
In accordance with section 172(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, the Secretary of State has referred these Regulations to the Social Security Advisory Committee.
