# The Sugar Beet (Research and Education) Order 1999, Introduction: Introductory text

Made 18th February 1999
Laid before Parliament 9th March 1999
Coming into force 1st April 1999
Whereas in accordance with subsection (1) of section 68 of the Food Act 1984 the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, acting jointly, after consultation with the processors and such bodies as in the Ministers' opinion are substantially representative of growers of home-grown beet, have prepared for the year 1999–2000 the programme for carrying out research and education in matters affecting the growing of home-grown beet;
Now, therefore, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the said section and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
