# The Sustainable Communities Regulations 2012, Introduction: Introductory text

Coming into force 26th July 2012
The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5B and 5D(1) of the Sustainable Communities Act 2007 and after having consulted—
(a) local authorities; and
(b) such other persons who represent the interests of local authorities as the Secretary of State thought fit,
in accordance with section 5B(5) of that Act.
