If, in calculating the amount of a retirement pension, there is taken into account any period of employment after 2nd April 1961 in respect of which a payment in lieu of contributions has been made, the retirement pension is, except as provided in paragraphs 7 and 8, reduced—

(a)

by £2.31 in the case of a man and by £1.92 in the case of a woman for each year, and proportionately for part of a year, of any period from 3rd April 1961 to 5th January 1964, and

(b)

by £3.48 in the case of a man and by £2.90 in the case of a woman for each year, and proportionately for part of a year, of any period from 6th January 1964 to 5th April 1975.
