  "heading": "Disapplication of section 19 in relation to persons performing functions of a public nature",
  "text": "Section 19 of the 2000 Act shall not apply to the following persons, being persons who are, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, performing or connected with the performance of regulatory, supervisory, investigative or registration functions of a public nature, namely—\n(a) the Bank of England;\n(b) The Financial Services Authority;\n(c) the Building Societies Commission;\n(d) a designated agency within the meaning of the Financial Services Act 1986;\n(e) a recognised self-regulating organisation within the meaning of the Financial Services Act 1986;\n(f) a recognised professional body within the meaning of the Financial Services Act 1986;\n(g) a transferee body within the meaning of the Financial Services Act 1986;\n(h) a recognised self-regulating organisation for friendly societies within the meaning of the Financial Services Act 1986;\n(i) the Council of Lloyds;\n(j) the Friendly Societies Commission;\n(k) the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies;\n(l) the Assistant Registrar of Friendly Societies for Scotland;\n(m) the Central Office of the Registry of Friendly Societies;\n(n) the Registrar of Credit Unions for Northern Ireland;\n(o) the Assistant Registrar of Credit Unions for Northern Ireland, and\n(p) any person who is employed by, or otherwise engaged in, the service of any person referred to above for the purpose of performing such functions.",
