Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Rules)
These Rules revoke and replace the Trade Mark (Fees) Rules 1996 (S.I. 1996/1942) except for rule 5(2) of those rules.
They also provide for the removal of fees in some instances and a substantial reduction in a number of others. The most significant are in respect of—
applications for registration of a trade mark (Form TM3), from £225 to £200;
renewal of registrations, from £250 to £200 (Form TM11);
class fees: for each class over one, from £200 to £50 (Form TM11);
request to merge applications or registrations, from £100 to no fee (Form TM17);
request for rectification, from £200 to no fee (Form TM26);
application for registration of a licence, from £50 to no fee (TM50).
