Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the Trial of the Pyx Order 1975 by inserting a definition of “coins ready for issue”. It also amends article 3(1) of that Order to provide that the sample of cupro-nickel coins to be provided for the Trial of the Pyx shall be one coin out of every 5,000 coins of a denomination of more than ten pence ready for issue, and one coin out of every 20,000 coins of a denomination of ten pence or less unless the total number of cupro-nickel coins subject to trial in any year is less than 250 million, in which case the sample is to be one coin out of every 5,000 ready for issue, irrespective of denomination.
