# The Veterinary Surgeons Qualifications (EEC Recognition) (German Democratic Republic Qualifications) Order 1991, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order, which is made under the European Communities Act 1972,amends the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 for the purpose of implementingCouncil Directive 90/658/EECwhich amends Council Directive 78/1026/EEC relating to the right of establishment of veterinarysurgeons and their freedom to provide veterinary services.
Following German unification, holders of German Democratic Republicveterinary qualifications will be able to practise in the United Kingdomprovided they can meet specified conditions.
