Section 53 ExpiryI1

This Act expires at the end of the period of 15 years beginning with the day on which this section comes into force.

But the Scottish Ministers may by regulations extend the period set out in subsection (1).

At the same time as laying a draft Scottish statutory instrument containing regulations under subsection (2) before the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Ministers must lay before the Parliament a statement of their reasons why it is necessary to extend the operation of this Act.

Regulations under subsection (2) may modify any enactment (including this Act).
