The functions conferred by sections 6 to 7 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998f1 are to be carried out in relation to the local government areas of Forest Heath District Council, St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Mid Suffolk District Council as if they constituted only one area (“the combined area”).

Section 6 was amended by section 97(1) and (7) to (11) of the Police Reform Act 2002. Section 6A was inserted by section 98 of the Police Reform Act 2002. Sections 6 and 6A have been substituted by paragraph 3 to Schedule 9 of the Police and Justice Act 2006 but that amendment is not yet in force.
