Northern Ireland

(1)

The Department of Justice in Northern Ireland (“the Department”) may issue guidance to the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland about the exercise of the Chief Constable’s functions in connection with—

(a)

the prevention, detection and investigation of offences under section 48;

(b)

the prevention, detection and investigation of offences under section 65;

(c)

CCE prevention orders under Schedule 8.

(2)

The Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland must have regard to any guidance issued under this section.

(3)

The Department may revise any guidance issued under this section.

(4)

Before issuing any guidance or revisions under this section, the Department must consult such persons as it considers appropriate.

(5)

Subsection (4) does not apply to revisions if the Department considers that they are not substantial.

(6)

The Department must publish any guidance or revisions issued under this section.
