Rule 8 Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Rules 2025

In Part 30 (Enforcement of fines and other orders for payment), in rule 30.5 (Application to reduce a fine, vary payment terms or remit a courts charge)—

(a)

in the heading to the rule for “reduce” substitute “remit”;

(b)

for paragraph (1) substitute—

“(1)

This rule applies where—

(a)

the defendant wants the court to remit the whole or any part of a fine;

(b)

no collection order is in force and the defendant wants the court to vary payment terms; or

(c)

the defendant, a fines officer or an enforcement agent wants the court to remit a criminal courts charge.”; and

(c)

in paragraph (2)—

(i)

in sub-paragraph (c) for “reduce” substitute “remit”, and

(ii)

in sub-paragraph (c)(ii) for “reduced” substitute “remitted”.
