England and Wales As made
A warrant must identify—
the person or description of persons by whom it may be executed;
any person who may accompany a person executing the warrant;
so far as practicable—
the documents, electronic devices, or kinds of devices, or other material, or persons to be sought, and
any information to be sought which may be stored electronically;
the legislation under which it was issued;
the name of the applicant;
the court that issued it, unless that is otherwise recorded by the court officer;
the court office for the court that issued it; and
the date on which it was issued.
A warrant must specify—
either—
the premises to be searched, where the application was for authority to search specified premises, or
the person in occupation or control of premises to be searched, where the application was for authority to search any premises occupied or controlled by that person; and
the number of occasions on which specified premises may be searched, if more than one.
A warrant must include an indication that it has been approved by the court that issued it.
Where a warrant comprises more than a single page, each page must include such an indication.
A copy of a warrant must include a prominent certificate that it is such a copy.
[Note. See sections 15 and 16 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984f1. Not all the powers to which the rules in this Section apply permit the issue of a warrant in respect of all premises occupied or controlled by a specified person: see, for example, rule 47.32 (Application for warrant under section 352 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002).]
