Section 16 Interpretation, etc.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them, that is to say:—
“department” means such part, if any, of a school as is organised under a separate head teacher;
F1“the principal Act” means the Education Act 1944; . . . F2
“site”, in relation to any school, does not include playing fields, but, save as aforesaid, includes any site which is to form part of the school premises.
This Act shall be construed as one with the principal Act.
