England and Wales

For the purposes of this Schedule, references to the discontinuance of a school are—

(a)

to its discontinuance under section 14 of the M1Education Act 1944 (discontinuance by governors of voluntary schools), or

(b)

to the local education authority ceasing to maintain it in accordance with proposals under section 12 of the M2Education Act 1980 (discontinuance of county or voluntary schools) or section 183 of this Act.
