For the purposes of this Chapter—

(a)

any reference to expenditure incurred for the purpose of attending an institution or period of study—

(i)

includes expenditure both before and after so attending; and

(ii)

does not include any expenditure in respect of which a grant is payable under Chapter 3 of this Part;

(b)

“qualifying quarter” means a quarter during which the eligible student attends as part of his course an overseas institution or the Institute for at least half the period covered by that quarter.
