In rule 23 (appointment of presiding officers and clerks), in paragraph (3), for the words from “except” to the end substitute

“except—

(a)

order the arrest of any person or the exclusion or removal of any person from the polling station,

(b)

refuse to deliver a ballot paper under rule 32(3) or paragraph (4) of rule 34 (including that paragraph as applied by rule 35, 36 or 37), or

(c)

resolve doubts over identity as mentioned in paragraph (5A) of rule 34 (including that paragraph as applied by rule 35, 36 or 37).”
