Division II Detailed diagnostic methods and procedures for the confirmation of or to rule out the suspicion of VHS or IHN or both in suspected outbreaks

When a laboratory examination is required to confirm or rule out the presence of IHN or VHS or both in accordance with Article 57(b) of Directive 2006/88/EC using the diagnostic methods set out in point II.3 of Part 1 of Annex I, the following detailed diagnostic methods and procedures shall apply:

1. (a)

   conventional virus isolation with subsequent seroneutralisation, immune-chemical or molecular virus identification;

2. (b)

   virus detection by RT-PCR or RT-qPCR;

3. (c)

   other diagnostic techniques such as IFAT, ELISA, RT-PCR, IHC.
