Article 1 Objectives

1.

This Regulation establishes F1... rules to protect civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference that jeopardise the security of civil aviation.

It also provides the basis for F2an interpretation of Annex 17 to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.

2.

The means of achieving the objectives set out in paragraph 1 shall be:

(a)

the setting of F3... rules and ... basic standards on aviation security;

(b)

mechanisms for monitoring compliance.
