The Football Spectators (Seating) Order 2022 (S.I. 2022/728, “the 2022 Order”) directed the Sports Grounds Safety Authority to include in any licence to admit spectators (defined in section 1(7) of the Football Spectators Act 1989 (c. 37)) to the premises listed in Schedule 2 to that Order, a condition imposing the requirements specified in Schedule 1 to that Order as regards the seating of spectators during designated football matches at those premises.
“Designated football matches” are association football matches designated by order by the Secretary of State using the power conferred by section 1 of the Football Spectators Act 1989.
