In this Schedule— the letter “W” represents—
(a)
in the case of a trailer so designed that part of the weight of the trailer is imposed on the drawing vehicle, the axle weight, or, as the case may be, the sum of the axle weights which is or are to be determined for the trailer on an examination for plating;
(b)
in any other case the gross weight of the trailer which is to be so determined.
