The Lord President of the Council makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 36(2A) and (2B) of the Representation of the People Act 1983^f1 and now vested in him^f2.

The Lord President of the Council has consulted the Electoral Commission in accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(d) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000^f3.
