Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Humber Bridge Act 1959 (“the Act”) using the power conferred by section 6(1)(e) of the Act, as substituted by section 3(3) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to, the Humber Bridge Act 2013. The Act provides for the construction and ongoing maintenance of the Humber Bridge and approaching roads and establishes the Humber Bridge Board (“the Board”) to execute the implementation of the Act.

Article 2 of this Order replaces the inoperative nominating body, the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, with the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority and Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (“the Combined Authorities”). The Combined Authorities will now be able to nominate persons for the directors’ positions on the Board, two of which will be appointed by the constituent authorities, listed in section 6(1)(a)-(d) of the Act.
